I
recently found a picture that inspired me to make quite a few
changes, as you will see below. This often happens, but this one
touched on a vague topic that is not just a part of my life, but my
very being. So I decided to share my inspired thoughts/ changes
through blogging. I started with this... Note to Self:
I
have some changes to make about what is stated below. Please re-read
& change where I feel it's needed to create a more accurate view

Theirs:
Ever wonder what makes those wacky, creative types tick? How is it
that some people seem to come up with all kinds of interesting,
original work while the rest of us trudge along in our daily
routines?
Creative
people are different because they operate a little differently.
Mine:
Ever wonder why some people can come up with unique, or brilliant
ideas and projects? Or how they think, and can see things in
perspectives that others may seem to struggle with in these ways?
Creative thinkers see things differently, and "follow the beat
of their own drum".

Theirs:
1. Are easily bored
A
short attention span isn’t always a good thing, but it can indicate
that the creative person has grasped one concept and is ready to go
on to the next one.
Mine:
1. Seem to be easily bored
Seeming
to be easily bored, does not always mean that it's a case of a short
attention span. It can show that the idea has been understood, and
the creative person is ready for the next step or idea. It can also
mean that they are not interested. It's good to check which one.

2. Are willing to take risks
Fearlessness
is absolutely necessary for creating original work, because of the
possibility of rejection. Anything new requires a bit of change, and
most of us don’t care for change that much.
Mine:
2. Are risk takers
Creatives
are known for this, as they "put themselves out there" with
their creations. And are usually accepting of, ready for, and
inviting change. Many are free spirits by nature, with lots of
spontaneous and sporatic thoughts and ideas. This helps them to be
prepared for change, and many see change as natural learning paths of
life progression - not a negative.

3. Don’t like rules
Rules,
to the creative person, are indeed made to be broken. They are
created for us by other people, generally to control a process; the
creative person needs freedom in order to work.
Mine:
3. Known for "bending"/ breaking rules
Creatives
tend to venture out of the "normal", and create new things.
They tend to use rules more as moral guidelines. Many know that
sometimes bending or breaking the rules, is how we learn to progress.
And as with plans, rules can change - even last minute.

4. Ask “what if…”
Seeing
new possibilities is a little risky, because it means that something
will change and some sort of action will have to be taken. Curiosity
is probably the single most important trait of creative people.
Mine:
4. Want to know "what if..."
Creative
thinkers are use to asking "what if...", as they tend to
have an always curious mind. They want to explore every avenue to
answer "what if...". With active imaginations many are
inspired to continue once started, and yearn for more. Once they find
the answer(s), they either expand from there, or move on.

5. Make lots of mistakes
A
photographer doesn’t just take one shot, and a composer doesn’t
just write down a fully realized symphony. Creation is a long
process, involving lots of boo-boos along the way. A lot goes in the
trash.
Mine:
5. Are ok with making mistakes
They
see mistakes as chances to learn, develop, and grow. The creative
process itself, is an adventure along the journeys through Life.
Mistakes are seen as the obsticles, that challenge us to be better
than we already are.

6. Collaborate
The
hermit artist, alone in his garret, is a romantic notion but not
always an accurate one. Comedians, musicians, painters, chefs all get
a little better by sharing with others in their fields.
Mine:
6. Collaborative
Some
creative thinkers like to work alone, with the notion that others may
"screw up" the creation. Some like to involve others in the
process, with the notion of "two brains are better than one".
While some are flexible to one degree or another, and can enjoy both.
Adaptability can be part of collaborating, just as much as it is part
of life's survival.

7. Are generous
Truly
creative people aren’t afraid to give away their hard-earned
knowledge. The chef can give you the recipe because she knows you
won’t make it like she does anyway.
Mine:
7. Are givers
Creative
thinkers like to share their knowledge for various reasons. Some do
so because they have a giving nature, like to help others to grow in
positive ways, and see knowledge as tools meant for everyone. Some
do because as everyone knows, no two individuals are alike and each
does things differently. And many "see the big picture",
and do so for both reasons. When everyone grows in positive ways,
life prospers.

8. Are independent
Stepping
off the beaten path may be scary, but creative people do it. Children
actually do this very well but are eventually trained to follow the
crowd.
Mine:

Creative
thinkers are strong individuals that like independence, as it enable
them to learn and do at their own pace, work with and without others
or assistance, and think "outside the box". If they can
train their children to retain this into their adult lives, they are
happy to do it.

Combining
things that don’t normally go together can result in brilliance or
a giant mess. Trial and error are necessary to the creative process.
Mine:

Creative
thinkers like to explore, learn, and grow. With large imaginations,
their active minds look for new and fun experiments - whether it's
what they know, or not. Experiments lead to many discoveries; while
mistakes and failures are growth opportunities, and tools to learn
from.

10. Motivate themselves
There
does seem to be a spark that creative people share, an urgent need to
make things. They are willing to run the inherent risks of doing
something new in order to get a new result.
Mine:

Creative
thinkers are usually self-motivated, inspired by their surroundings,
and they tend to motivate and inspire others by how they think or
what they do. They are often accused of "thinking outside the
box", being "out there" as if in space, and even
"ahead of their time".

11. Work hard
This
is probably the most overlooked trait of creative people. People who
don’t consider themselves to be creative assume that people who are
creative are magical, that ideas just pop into their heads
effortlessly. Experienced creative people have developed processes
and discipline that make it look easy.
Mine:
11. Hard workers
Creative
thinkers tend to work long and often late hours, fussing over many or
every detail of their task(s). They often get so involved with their
work, that they may forget to take a break, lose track of time, or
even forget others are around them.

12. Aren’t alone
The
good news is that it’s possible for everyone to be creative. There
are creative accountants, creative cooks, creative janitors, creative
babysitters. Any profession or any hobby can be made into a creative
pursuit by embracing and using creative traits.
Mine:
12. Are not the only ones
Creative
thinkers are aware that they are not the only ones to think this way,
that everyone can be creative, and that creativity can be in
anything. Many are participants, contributors, and community builders
within thier groups, businesses, and communities. Many believe that
no one that creates, is alone within their arts & culture
communities.

Do you consider yourself creative? (Say yes.) Finding something
you’re really passionate about will help you take a chance and
might just result in something wildly creative.
Mine:
Are you also a creative thinker? What do you like to do or find
interesting? And are you willing to pursue it and explore? Thinking
that you can't do something, is often a fear of the unknown until we
try it - really try it. Underestimating ourselves and giving up, does
not allow for the practice needed to get use to it. After all
"practice makes perfect" they say, and everyone can be a
creative thinker.
